The oath-taking ceremony of the newly elected members of the National Assembly is scheduled to be held today.
According to Padma Prasad Pandey, General Secretary of the Federal Parliament Secretariat, the oath-taking ceremony has been scheduled for 2 pm today in the hall of the Law, Justice and Human Rights Committee at Singha Durbar. The election was held for the 18 members of the National Assembly that are about to fall vacant on Magh 11.
According to the Federal Parliament Secretariat, the Chairman of the National Assembly, Narayan Prasad Dahal, is scheduled to administer the oath in accordance with Article 86, Clause 2, of the Constitution of Nepal. For the oath-taking, the members must be present in a dress that reflects their identity along with a copy of the certificate of the position of the National Assembly member obtained from the Election Commission and a citizenship certificate.
Members who want to take the oath in their mother tongue other than Nepali must provide a translation of the oath into their mother tongue as per the law. According to the Election Commission, Roshni Meche, Somnath Portel, and Sunil Bahadur Thapa have been elected from Koshi Province in the National Assembly member election on Magh 11.
Rekha Kumari Jha, Dharmendra Paswan, Ranjit Karna and Mahantha Thakur have been elected from Madhesh Province. Similarly, Geeta Devkata and Prem Prasad Dangal have been elected from Bagmati Province, Jagat Timilsina and Samjhana Devkota from Gandaki Province, Ram Kumari Jhankri, Chandra Bahadur KC and Vasudev Ghimire have been elected from Lumbini Province.
Meena Singh Rakhal and Lalit Jung Shahi have been elected from Karnali Province. Similarly, Leela Kumari Bhandari and Khamma Bahadur Khati have been elected from Sudurpaschim.
