Elections for members of the House of Representatives are being held across the country on Thursday. Voting will take place from 7 am to 5 pm at polling stations designated by the Election Commission across the country.

Voters will have to carry their identity documents when going to vote. The Election Commission has made arrangements to allow voters to vote using six different types of identity documents if their names are on the voter list, said Suman Ghimire, the commission's information officer.

According to him, if there is a voter identity card provided by the Election Commission, the same document should be used. In case of not having such an identity card, arrangements have been made to vote by taking any one of the following documents with them: citizenship certificate, national identity card, passport, driving license or landowner certificate (Lalpurja). He urged voters to attend their own polling station at the scheduled time with their identity documents.

According to the commission, before participating in the vote, voters must confirm their polling station and bring an official identity document with them. He said that separate lines have been arranged for women and men after reaching the polling station. Voters will have to sit in the respective lines and vote according to their turn.

The commission has made special arrangements for physically disabled people, senior citizens, pregnant and postpartum women and people who have difficulty voting themselves. Information Officer Ghimire informed that separate facilitation arrangements have been made so that such voters do not have to stand in line. Physically disabled people, senior citizens, pregnant and postpartum women and people who have difficulty voting on their own can seek necessary assistance from the polling officer, assistant polling officer or assigned employees and volunteers.

Ghimire informed that the Commission has also directed the employees assigned to the voting process to make arrangements for voters with disabilities and special needs to vote in a comfortable and respectful environment.
