The Election Commission has given additional instructions to the Election Code of Conduct Monitoring Officer. The Commission has given instructions for the effective implementation of the special conduct to be followed from today until the polling station closes on the polling day.

The election for members of the House of Representatives is being held on Thursday. To ensure the implementation of the election code of conduct, the Assistant Chief District Officer and the Chief of the Treasury and Controller of Accounts Office have been designated as Election Code of Conduct Monitoring Officers with different responsibilities.

According to the provisions included in the election code of conduct, the Commission has directed to monitor the effective compliance of the conduct prescribed by the code of conduct by all parties from today until Thursday.

The Commission has reminded the public about the special conduct to be followed from 48 hours before the polling day until the polling station closes on the polling day. It has been directed to monitor the compliance of the conduct to be followed on the polling day and to make the implementation of the said provisions effective.

If any action is found to be taken against the Election Code of Conduct and the Election (Offences and Punishments) Act, 2073, it has been directed to implement it effectively in collaboration with the District Code of Conduct Monitoring Committee under the same Act. Accordingly, the Commission has earnestly requested not to do or cause to be done any actions that are not allowed under the prevailing law and the Election Code of Conduct during the campaign prohibition period.
