Qatar has issued an emergency notice urging local citizens and migrant workers to stay home except for essential work.

It has requested them to stay in their homes.  There are 400,000 Nepalis working in Qatar.

Earlier, Qatar had clarified that there were no worrying signs in its internal security level so far.  After Israel and the US attacked Iran, the Qatari government issued a statement on Saturday afternoon stating that its security situation is completely stable and safe.

‘Security agencies are monitoring the situation around the clock.  Work is being done to strengthen public security, ensure the safety of citizens, migrants and visitors, and prevent disruption of essential services by coordinating with various agencies through the Integrated Operations System,’ the statement said.

The Ministry of Interior has urged the public to obtain information only from official and authorized sources. ‘We also request you not to pay attention to rumors or messages spread by unknown sources and not to spread unconfirmed news and video content on social media,’ the statement said.

Qatar’s Ministry of Defense said that ‘some attack attempts targeting the country’s territory have been successfully thwarted.’ The ministry claimed that as soon as the threat was identified, it was immediately controlled and all missiles were intercepted before reaching Qatari territory, in accordance with a pre-approved security plan.

Qatar has a US security base camp. The base camp is located near Sana’a, a densely populated area with migrant workers.

Iran had previously attacked a Qatari military camp during the war between Israel and Iran.
