The Election Commission has stated that out of the 87 complaints received so far by the Central Code of Conduct Monitoring Committee, 57 have been answered by political parties and candidates.

So far, 81 have been asked for written explanations and 6 have been asked for re-explanations, informed the Commission's Legal Officer Mohan Raj Joshi. The Commission has also asked for explanations from political parties, candidates, government and non-government organizations, media outlets and journalists who have been complained about violating the election code of conduct. Registered media outlets and journalists affiliated with them have been sent letters through the Press Council Nepal for clarification and other action.

Setopati Online, which publishes news materials about parties and candidates being specially elected after conducting opinion surveys in the name of election analysis, has also been asked for explanations through the Press Council.

Complaints against violations of the election code of conduct have been received even at the district level and necessary action is being taken. The Commission has initiated the necessary investigation and action process on the complaints received to ensure effective compliance with the election code of conduct and minimize the incidents of violation.

The Commission has also stated that the 54 responses received are being studied. Joshi said that the Central Code of Conduct Monitoring Committee, District Code of Conduct Monitoring Committee, District Code of Conduct Approval Officer and the concerned election office are active for the effective implementation of the code of conduct.

In order to make the approval of the code of conduct effective at the district level and ensure its implementation, as per Section 32 of the Election Code of Conduct, 2082, the Assistant Chief District Officers of all 77 districts have been designated as Code of Conduct Monitoring Officers to monitor matters other than financial matters and the Chief Fund Controller to monitor matters related to financial matters.

The Commission has stated that the work of informing stakeholders about the code of conduct and getting them to commit to following the code of conduct in all districts is being effectively carried out in a short time. It is also stated that the process of legal action against those found guilty has been taken forward by demanding clarifications and answers from the district itself regarding the complaints received at the district level.
