The Election Commission has made it clear that no political party or candidate's election campaign program should be obstructed by any other political party or candidate or party worker or common citizen.

The Commission has called upon political parties or candidates participating in the February 21 House of Representatives elections to refrain from obstructing the election campaign by another party or candidate. The Commission has been monitoring the election campaign through various means, the statement published by the Commission today states.

The Commission has drawn serious attention to the fact that information has been received from various media outlets, the statement issued by Spokesperson Narayan Prasad Bhattarai states. He said that the Code of Conduct, 2082, also mentions this matter in Section 13, Sub-section (1) of Section 13, Sub-section (e) of Section 13, Sub-section (1), and related persons regarding the conduct to be followed by political parties, candidates or parties.

The section provides that 'no one shall disrupt or obstruct any rally, public meeting, corner meeting, meeting, gathering or other program organized by any political party, candidate or sister organization of the party'. Similarly, the Commission has drawn the attention of all concerned to the provision in clause (b) of the same section of the same act that states that 'any person who obstructs or obstructs or causes to be obstructed or detained or causes to be detained or detained with the intention of depriving any person of his right to contest the election or to campaign for the election in accordance with the prevailing federal law relating to elections or to exercise his right to vote' in clause (a) of the same section.

He said that it is the responsibility of political parties, candidates, general citizens and all stakeholders to conduct the upcoming elections in a free, fair, impartial and fear-free environment. The Commission has requested all stakeholders not to obstruct or obstruct or cause to be obstructed or obstructed with the aim of depriving them of the opportunity to campaign for the elections in accordance with the prevailing federal law on elections. The Commission has informed all stakeholders that if they are found to be doing otherwise, it will be against the code of conduct.
