Government forms 5-member task force to investigate Dhading bus accident

The Ministry of Home Affairs has formed a five-member task force to study and investigate the bus accident in Dhading.

A five-member task force has been formed under the coordination of the Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs. The task force will investigate the accident and submit a report.

A meeting attended by the Secretary of the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport, the Chief of the Security Agency, the Director General of the Department of Transport, the Director General of the Department of Roads, and representatives of transport entrepreneurs and labor unions decided to form the task force.

A passenger bus (Ga 2 Kha 1421) coming from Pokhara to Kathmandu met with an accident on the Prithvi Highway at Bhainsigaunda, Benighat Rorang Rural Municipality-5, Dhading at around 1:30 am on Monday. It went out of control and fell about 200 meters below the road onto the banks of the Trishuli River.

Out of the 44 passengers on the bus, 19 have died and 25 have been injured. The ministry has stated that rescue and relief operations have been intensified in coordination with the Nepal Army, Nepal Police, Armed Police Force Nepal and local residents following the accident. The bodies of the deceased have been recovered from the river and the identification process is underway, while the injured have been sent to various hospitals for treatment, said a statement issued by Home Ministry spokesperson Anand Kafle.

The Ministry of Home Affairs has expressed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and expressed its deepest condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the accident.
