The Election Commission has stated that the voter education program is ongoing in all 6,743 wards across the country as per the approved program with the aim of informing the general public about the importance of voting rights and the voting process.
In a press conference organized by the Commission here on Friday, it was informed that one voter education volunteer has been mobilized in each of the 6,743 wards of 753 local levels across the country from Falgun 3 to 17. The volunteers who have been deployed are reaching the settlements and doorsteps of the general voters and informing the voters about the importance of the election and the voting process through sample ballot papers, informed the Commission spokesperson Sita Pun Shree. For the purpose of the voter education program, the Commission has appointed the contact person previously designated at the local level as the monitor of the election voter education program, and the orientation program has also been completed.
Election materials and ballot papers have reached the districts
The Election Commission has brought the preparations for the House of Representatives member election, 2082, to the final stage. The administrative work is scheduled and conducted at the specified time as per the schedule approved by the Commission. The printing of ballot papers for the first past the post and proportional representation electoral systems is underway and the work of sending them to the respective districts is underway.
Election materials have been delivered to most districts. As per the approved program, a special voter education program is being continuously conducted in 6,743 wards of 753 local levels from Falgun 3 to 17. Mechanisms including the Central Code of Conduct Monitoring Committee have been actively performing their work by continuing to monitor and comply with the election code of conduct. Political parties have started their main election campaign activities since Falgun 4. The Commission has directed political parties and candidates to make the campaigning polite and dignified by adhering to the prevailing laws and code of conduct.
Promotion continues through ‘digital platform’
With the aim of providing election education, the Voter Education Unit under the Election Information Communication and Coordination Center of the Commission has so far approved 345 materials and placed them on the Commission’s official Facebook page, X, TikTok and YouTube. The Commission is confident that such materials targeting voters, political parties, candidates and stakeholders will enhance the integrity of the election and help citizens receive official and reliable information and reduce the impact of false and misleading information. The Commission expects such materials to promote the voter education program through digital platforms and citizens and public stakeholders to receive official information, said Assistant Spokesperson Shree.
Broadcasting of interactive messages
The Commission has started broadcasting interactive video messages, song messages, short videos and jingles produced by the Commission to promote the voter education program. Such materials are being broadcasted on the Commission’s official digital platform. To motivate voters to participate in the election, The Commission expects to play a role in increasing the voting percentage and reducing the invalid vote percentage through message-based content that promotes election integrity and motivates compliance with the election code of conduct.
Collaboration with artists
The Commission has discussed collaboration with national artists, social media content creators and influencers to make the publicity and voter education of the upcoming election more effective. Accepting the Commission's request to support the grand celebration of the election taking place in special circumstances, the participating artists have committed to spreading messages on their digital platforms to promote voter education and election integrity and reduce misinformation to the general electorate.
Ballots being delivered to districts
It is well known that the printing of ballots for the first-past-the-post and proportional electoral systems for the elections to the House of Representatives has been completed. She said that 23.23 million ballot papers have been printed and packed for 165 constituencies in 77 districts under the first-past-the-post electoral system.
The transportation of ballot papers started from Karnali Province on 29th Magh and has been completed in Sudurpaschim, Karnali and Koshi Provinces. Transportation work is ongoing in other provinces. The transportation of other election materials other than ballot papers has been completed, the Commission has stated.
As per the schedule set by the Commission for printing ballot papers, printing for voter education purposes began at Janak Shiksha Samagri Kendra Limited Sanothimi on 22nd Poush for the purpose of voter education. According to which 10.98 million 200 sample ballot papers were printed. The Commission has stated that the printing of ballot papers under the proportional electoral system started on 26th Poush and a total of 28.30 million ballot papers required by 13th Magh have been completed.
