This scene from Sunday evening on the occasion of Mahashivaratri continued till Monday morning, according to the Pashupati Area Development Trust. The temple was not closed overnight as it was Mahashivaratri. The main gate entering the temple area from the main road was also not closed at night.

The four-hour worship of Mahashivaratri, which began after sunset on Sunday evening, was completed before 6 am this morning. The hustle and bustle of devotees that began on Friday at Shiva temples across the country on the occasion of Mahashivaratri, including Pashupatinath, continued till this morning. Even after 10 pm, devotees were standing in line even to the outer gate entering the main area of ​​Pashupatinath, informed the trust's information officer Anita Bhatta.

In the past year, the main gate used to be closed after 10 pm, as the queues reached the main entrance to the main area of ​​Pashupatinath. This year, the main gate was not closed as many devotees were standing in line even at night. He said that lakhs of devotees have performed puja, worship and darshan in the Pashupati area on the occasion of Mahashivaratri.

Thousands of devotees gathered in Gokarneshwar

Similarly, there was a crowd of devotees in the Gokarneshwar Mahadev Temple till Sunday night. The Gokarneshwar temple area was also illuminated with electric lights. The worship of the Shree Yantra is done in Pashupatinath, and the worship of the Bal Yantra is done in Gokarneshwar Mahadev Temple. Since it is a classical belief that those who participate in the worship of the Shree Yantra should also participate in the worship of the Bal Yantra to obtain fruits, some devotees who come to Pashupatinath come to Gokarneshwar.

The garbage accumulated in the Gokarneshwor Mahadev temple area due to devotees will be cleaned this morning. It is said that the Gokarneshwor Mahadev temple area is being cleaned under the leadership of the Bagmati Beauty Concern Forum. The forum has been cleaning the Bagmati above Guhyeshwari. The forum, which has been involved in the Bagmati cleaning campaign since its source, regularly cleans the Bagmati above Guhyeshwari for two hours in the morning every Saturday.

Devotees queued up till night in Baneshwor and Nageshwor. Devotees queued up at the Nageshwor Mahadev temple, which was shifted from the former Gaucharan in the Pashupati area to the current Tribhuvan Airport in the Gothatar area from 3 am on Sunday. The queue was the same till Sunday night. In Nageshwor, six Brahmins performed all four Prahar pujas and Rudrabhishekam. This puja is held every year on the occasion of Mahashivaratri. 

Temple Management Committee Chairman Prakash Jung Rayamajhi informed that there was a long queue of devotees in Nageshwor on the occasion of Mahashivaratri till night. Thousands of devotees have worshipped and worshipped in the temple from morning till night.  Chairman Rayamajhi said that there is a religious belief that visiting Baneshwor and Nageshwor on Mahashivaratri will get rid of legal disputes and will also grant Shree.
