The death toll in a passenger bus accident in the Lilauti area near Triveni in Bhalubajor, Manthali Municipality-6, Ramechhap has reached 12.

A passenger bus of Araniko Transport, bearing the number Province 03-01-005 Kha 9975, coming from Kathmandu to Okhaldhunga, fell off the road and into the Tamakoshi River at 11 am on Tuesday.

12 bodies have been brought from the accident site to the Manthali Hospital in the district headquarters by 4 pm.

According to Rajan Prasad Timsina, Police Inspector of the District Police Office, Ramechhap, so far, 9 bodies have been recovered from the bus that sank in the Tamakoshi.

Police have said that some of the injured have been removed from the bus that sank in the Tamakoshi and are being treated. Police suspect that the accident was caused by speeding.

The driver, who suffered minor injuries, is being treated at the Tamakoshi Hospital in Manthali. The identity of the deceased is yet to be revealed. The 7 injured have been referred to Dhulikhel Hospital by Shubhajivan Hospital in Sindhuli Khurkot.
