The body of artist Thapa, who has made an incomparable contribution to Nepali art, culture, and the film industry for a long time, was cremated with national honors.
Senior artist Nir Shah, musician Shambhujit Baskota, representatives of the Film Development Board, office bearers of artist associations, filmmakers and relatives paid their last respects by draped in the national flag. Participants in the tribute meeting recalled the artistic journey of the late Thapa and mentioned that his contribution will always be immortal in the history of Nepali cinema.
He died on Saturday morning at Norvic International Hospital in Thapathali due to a heart attack.
After the postmortem was completed at Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital, Maharajgunj, his body was cremated at Pashupati Aryaghat today.
Late Thapa had acted in the Nepali cinema for decades and played memorable roles in dozens of successful films. Filmmakers say that his acting has made a significant contribution to taking Nepali cinema to new heights. Filmmakers have called this loss irreparable, saying that the Nepali cinema industry has lost an experienced, dedicated and hardworking artist with Thapa's death.
