The Election Commission has completed an orientation program for national observer organizations. The program provided information on the dos and don'ts of observers.

On the occasion, Joint Secretary of the Commission, Narayan Prasad Bhattarai, presented on ‘Election Observation: Concept and Practice of Nepal’, Chief of the Election Management Division and Joint Secretary Rajendra Kumar KC presented on ‘Management of the Election of Members of the House of Representatives, 2082 (including polling stations, polling centers, vote counting) schedule and program’.

Chief of the Law and Party Management Division and Joint Secretary Yagya Prasad Bhattarai presented on ‘Information on the Election Code of Conduct, 2082’ and Joint Secretary Gyanhari Ghimire presented on ‘Constitutional Provisions Related to the House of Representatives, Election System’, informing the heads and representatives of 37 national organizations that will observe the elections about the work to be done by observers.

 In the program, Acting Chief Commissioner of the Commission, Ram Prasad Bhandari, Commissioners Dr. Janaki Kumari Tuladhar and Sagun Shumsher Jabra, Secretary Krishna Bahadur Raut, among others, emphasized that observers should understand the Constitution and election laws of Nepal.

They said that observers should observe the activities before voting, during voting, and during the counting of votes after voting and submit a report to the commission.

Election observers should also work within the Election Code of Conduct, 2082, observers should not misuse vehicle passes, should not be in favor of or against any party, and should not interfere with the work of employees deployed in the voting process by asking unnecessary questions at the polling station.

The commission has stated that 37 national organizations and three international observer organizations have obtained permission to observe the upcoming election of members of the House of Representatives to be held on Falgun 21.
