Of the 24 candidates who were asked for clarification by the Election Commission on charges of violating the code of conduct, 24 have submitted their responses. The Commission had asked for clarification from 34 people. Out of them, 10 candidates have not yet responded.
According to the Commission's spokesperson Narayan Prasad Bhattarai, the Commission is taking necessary investigation and action on the complaints received to ensure effective compliance with the code of conduct and minimize the incidents of violations.
The Central Code of Conduct Monitoring Committee, District Code of Conduct Monitoring Committee, District Code of Conduct Approval Officer and the concerned election office are active for the effective implementation of the code of conduct.
In order to make the approval of the code of conduct effective at the district level and ensure its implementation, the responsibility has been given to the Assistant Chief District Officers of all 77 districts as per Section 32 of the Election Code of Conduct, 2082. The Assistant Chief District Officer has the authority to look into matters other than financial matters.
The Chief Fund Controller and the COPE Controller have been designated as Code of Conduct Monitoring Officers in the districts to monitor financial matters. The Commission has stated that the work of informing stakeholders about the code of conduct and making them commit to following the code of conduct in all districts in a short time is being effectively carried out.
The Commission has stated that necessary action has been taken on the complaints received regarding violations of the code of conduct at the district level.
