The Press Council Nepal is to award the 'Press Council Award' to newspapers and magazines that have been published continuously for 50 years.

The council board meeting held in Salyantar, Dhading, has decided to 'give the 'Press Council Honor' to newspapers that have been published continuously for 50 years,' according to a press release issued today by the council's senior administrative officer and spokesperson Deepak Khanal. The meeting has also decided to improve and revise the award-related procedures to make the various awards given by the council more transparent and effective.

The meeting discussed the current fiscal year's programs, progress and additional programs, as well as contemporary issues in the election code of conduct and the mass media sector, according to the statement. The meeting has decided to start the election code of conduct awareness campaign from Dhading. In the first phase, the council has decided to run programs on 'Election Code of Conduct and Media' in major cities of seven provinces and to make monitoring more effective.

The board meeting has decided to appeal to all concerned to fully implement the election code of conduct to conduct the upcoming House of Representatives elections on Falgun 21 in a free, fair, impartial, transparent and fear-free environment.
