President Ram Chandra Poudel departed for home from Narita Airport here today after concluding a four-day official visit to Japan.
At the invitation of the Japanese government, President Poudel, along with First Lady Sabita Poudel, led a Nepali delegation to Japan on Monday to participate in a special ceremony organized in Japan to mark the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Nepal and Japan. During his visit to Japan, President Poudel attended a special reception ceremony organized by the Japanese government in Tokyo to mark the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Nepal and Japan. He addressed the ceremony. Similarly, President Poudel paid a state courtesy call on Emperor Naruhito of Japan at the Imperial Palace in Tokyo. Japanese Prime Minister Takaichi Sanae and Japanese Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Horie Iwao paid a courtesy call on him. During the visit, he also addressed a program for the Japanese business community and Nepalis living here. He also inspected the Nepali Embassy in Japan. Nepal and Japan established diplomatic relations on 1 September 1956. After establishing diplomatic relations, Nepal established its embassy in Tokyo in 1965 and Japan established its embassy in Kathmandu in 1967. President Poudel left Nepal for Japan on Sunday night for an official visit.
