Security agencies have claimed that all preparations for the security of the House of Representatives elections to be held on February 21 have been completed.

The Nepal Army and Nepal Police have prepared a security strategy for all seven provinces and have planned to mobilize manpower accordingly. A joint team including the Nepal Army is preparing to start patrolling from next week.

Nepal Army spokesperson Rajaram Basnet said that security will be provided by being in the third circle in coordination with the local administration, election officers and other security agencies. He said, "In addition to that, the Nepal Army will also conduct aerial patrolling."

Amidst political parties raising questions about the security of the Falgun 21 election, preparations are underway to deploy a joint team of Nepal Police, Armed Police Force and Election Police, including the Nepal Army. The Nepal Army has planned to deploy about 89,000 soldiers, while the Nepal Police is preparing to mobilize about 150,000 manpower, including the Election Police.

Similarly, the Armed Police Force will also mobilize manpower as needed. The Nepal Army has stated that it will deploy security forces at three levels: pre-election, election period, and post-election. The Army is preparing to mobilize resources and equipment, including air patrols, from four locations, including East, Kathmandu, Central, and Far West, considering the 165 constituencies.

The Army will also conduct area patrols in the constituencies. Meanwhile, the Nepal Police has stated that it will mobilize more than 70,000 manpower in seven provinces. Preparations are underway to deploy police based on the population of the province and the sensitivity of the constituency.

According to Nepal Police Spokesperson Abinarayan Kafle, manpower, including the election police, will be mobilized in the first, second, and third circles as needed during the election. ‘The number of police will be determined based on normal, sensitive and highly sensitive situations,’ he said. According to him, there will be an average of 13 polling stations at a single polling station, and an average of 80 police and election police will be deployed there.

The army and police have said that they are preparing to strengthen the security of ballot boxes, candidates, voters and polling officers. Nepal Police and Election Police will be deployed in the first and second circles to protect ballot boxes during the election, while the Nepal Army and Armed Police Force will be deployed in the third circle.

The Nepal Police and Armed Police Force have also started a 10-day training for election police. With only a month left for the election, security agencies have urged everyone to participate in the election in a fear-free environment.
