Order to examine witnesses in Madhav Nepal's case

A bench of Special Court Judges Narayan Prasad Poudel and Dilli Ratna Shrestha has ordered the examination of witnesses from the government and the defendants in the Patanjali Yogpeeth and Ayurveda Company Nepal land embezzlement case.

Order to examine witnesses in Madhav Nepal's case

The special court has ordered the examination of witnesses in the Patanjali Yogpeeth and Ayurveda Company Nepal land embezzlement case involving former Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal.

A bench of Special Court Judges Narayan Prasad Poudel and Dilli Ratna Shrestha ordered the government and the defendants to be examined.

Earlier, a bench of Special Court Chairman Sudarshan Dev Bhatta and Justice Hemant Rawal had taken out the file of the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority's decision to investigate and place Madhav Nepal and others in custody. The hearing was scheduled for Sunday after the file of the decision to investigate and place Nepal's case in custody was received from the Commission.

The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority had filed a case in the Special Court on Jestha 22, making 93 people, including Nepal, as defendants in the Patanjali land case. The Commission has claimed a fine and punishment of Rs 185.85 million against Nepal. Nepal has become a candidate for the 21 Falgun elections from Rautahat-1.

The CIAA chargesheet alleges that Nepal, as the then Prime Minister, misused his position to transfer government public property for personal and institutional interests and was involved in corrupt practices.

The CIAA had filed a case against 93 people on charges of illegally selling and embezzling 314 ropani 15 anas 2 paisa 1 daam land and committing corruption, claiming a compensation of Rs 185.85 crore.
