The road to Lomanthang has been cleared of snow since this morning along the blocked Nepal-China Korala road. The road from Chhusang to Lomanthang in Mustang has been cleared of snow using equipment from the Kaligandaki Corridor (Beni-Jomsom-Korla) Road Project, a joint initiative of the District Administration Office and Lomanthang and Loghekar Damodarkunda Rural Municipality.

The work of clearing snow from the 25-kilometer road from Lomanthang to Korlanaka is underway, informed Armed Police Inspector Suraj Shrestha of the Armed Police Border Out Post (BOP). According to him, the Armed Police team, along with the equipment of the corridor road, has started clearing snow from the Korala border road.

Earlier, more than two feet of snow had accumulated on the Kagbeni-Korla road due to heavy snowfall in Upper Mustang on Tuesday night. Due to this, the Jomsom-Korla road was completely blocked. The Korala Road in Upper Mustang is blocked due to heavy snowfall, which is causing difficulties for local citizens, security personnel, tourists, businessmen, and those deployed to monitor polling centers and polling stations for the election.

On Friday, the Korala Road Project's road digging equipment is working to clear the snow from the road from Chhusang in Mustang to Korlanaka, the project said. Similarly, the road digging equipment dozer of Lomanthang Rural Municipality was used to clear the snow from Lomanthang to the lower part of the road to manage the entire cost of the Korala Road Project.

In order to bring the Korala Road blocked by snowfall into operation as soon as possible, the project has already put two dozers into operation simultaneously up and down the road to Lomanthang, and snow removal from the road from Lomanthang to Korlanaka has begun, said Project Chief Tejashwi Sharma.

Although the life of the people of Upper Mustang has been affected due to the road blockage, life in the upper area is returning to normal since Saturday, said Project Chief Sharma.

The road up to Lomanthang Road in Upper Mustang, which was blocked by snowfall, has been reopened. The project has said that the work of clearing snow from the 25-kilometer road from Lomanthang to Korala checkpoint has started since Saturday.
