Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal has said that the government is giving high priority to strengthening election security and creating a fear-free environment.

Reaching the Election Commission on Thursday to inquire about the ongoing activities related to the preparations for the upcoming election of members of the House of Representatives to be held on Falgun 21, he said that the government is determined to take strictest action against anyone who tries to disrupt peace and security.

Home Minister Aryal informed that reliable security arrangements have been made for all concerned, including voters, political parties, candidates, election employees and security personnel. For this, he said that the ministry is working on a security plan in coordination with the election schedule.

'Directions have been given to the heads of local administration and security agencies to adopt a zero tolerance policy towards criminal and anti-election activities,' he said.

During the discussion, Acting Chief Election Commissioner Ram Prasad Bhandari expressed gratitude for the support and coordination received from the government during the preparations for the election of members of the House of Representatives and informed that the administrative preparations to be made by the Commission during the election management have been completed.

He said that the Commission will take a tough stance against any activity or activity that violates the constitution, election laws, and election code of conduct during the election management. Acting Chief Commissioner Bhandari also said that impunity from any side will not be acceptable to the Commission.

The discussion was attended by Election Commissioners Sagun Shamsher Jabra and Dr. Janaki Kumari Tuladhar, Election Commission Secretary Krishna Bahadur Raut, Home Ministry Secretary Rajkumar Shrestha and other high-ranking officials.

The meeting also discussed the overall peace and security preparations and election time management to ensure that the upcoming House of Representatives elections to be held on Falgun 21 are held in a fair, transparent, and fear-free environment, informed the Commission's spokesperson Narayan Prasad Bhattarai.
