The western low-pressure system, which was active since Tuesday evening and caused rain in many parts of the country, has now moved out of the area since this evening.

Senior meteorologist at the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, Varun Poudel, said that the system has moved out and the influence of the westerly wind is still there, but the weather will clear from tomorrow, although there will be some minor effects in the high hilly and mountainous areas. He said that the cold may remain for a few days and informed that the weather will clear until another system arrives.

The system has brought rain to many parts of the country, including the Kathmandu Valley, today. This system has not touched Madhes and Koshi Provinces, especially. The system has brought 2.2 millimeters of rain in Kathmandu, 4.8 millimeters in Lalitpur, and 4.8 millimeters in Bhaktapur. Surkhet has received the most rain in the last 24 hours, 43 millimeters.

38 millimeters of rain has fallen in Sheragaun of Rukum and 33 millimeters in Jajarkot, 35.6 in Baitadi, 33.2 in Dadeldhura, 30.2 in Bajur, 32.4 in Manang and 31 millimeters in Dolpa. Heavy snowfall has also occurred in the high hilly and mountainous areas of the western region of Nepal. Rainfall has occurred in most of the western districts including Bagmati Province today, causing snowfall in the high hilly and mountainous areas of those districts.

The hilly and mountainous areas of the country will be partly cloudy tonight and the weather will remain mainly clear in the remaining areas. There is a possibility of light snowfall/rain at one or two places in the high hilly and mountainous areas of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki Provinces.

On Thursday, there will be mist/fog in many places in the Terai region, partly cloudy in the high hilly and mountainous areas of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces, and the weather will be mainly clear in the rest of the region, the department has stated.
