The third Nepal Bird Fair is starting from Monday in Lumbini, the birthplace of Buddha. The Pokhara Bird Society has organized the Bird Fair on Magh 2 and 3 with the aim of highlighting the attractions of birds and ecotourism along with spiritual tourism in Lumbini. All preparations for the program have been completed and the participants have arrived in Lumbini.
The Bird Fair will be organized at two locations. Academic sessions, bird symposiums, discussions and seminars on seven different topics will be held at the Lumbini Buddhist University Assembly Hall for experts, specialists, researchers, ornithologists and students.
Various stalls of Thai Visitor Center and Baby Buddha Bird have been set up in Lumbini for locals, students and those interested in ecotourism. Similarly, a bird photo exhibition and a bird race (bird identification) competition will also be held. The program is organized to raise awareness for the conservation of bird species, biodiversity and important bird habitats.
The Bird Fair was organized with the aim of promoting ecotourism along with bird tourism by exchanging knowledge, collaborating and networking among the local community, students, guides, researchers and conservation-related organizations/institutions, said Manashant Ghimire, President of Pokhara Bird Society and Coordinator of Nepal Bird Fair Organizing Committee.
It is said that ornithologists, researchers and conservationists from all over the country will participate in the program.
