Patanjali land case: Order to withdraw files in case involving Madhav Nepal

The special court has ordered the withdrawal of the case file in the corruption case related to the land embezzlement of Patanjali Yogpeeth and Ayurveda Company Nepal, in which NCP leader Madhav Kumar Nepal is a defendant.

The special court, headed by Chairman Sudarshan Dev Bhatta and Justice Hemant Rawal, has ordered the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority to seek files from the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority to hear the corruption case involving Nepal.

The case was scheduled to be presented in the special court when Nepal was campaigning for the House of Representatives elections to be held on 21 Falgun in Rautahat.

The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority filed a case in the special court on 22nd Jestha, making 93 people, including Nepal, as defendants in the Patanjali land case. The Commission has claimed damages, fines and punishment of 185.85 million rupees against Nepal. The Commission claims that Nepal, as the then Prime Minister, misused his position to transfer government public property for personal and institutional interests and was involved in corrupt activities.

The then Council of Ministers led by Nepal had approved Patanjali to transact land exceeding the limit in its meeting on 6th Falgun, 2066. The charge sheet states that on 18 Magh 2066, Nepal had previously issued a direct order allowing Patanjali to sell and exchange land in excess of the limit.

A case has been filed against 93 people on charges of corruption by illegally selling and embezzling 314 ropanis, 15 annas, 2 paisas and 1 daam of land. The CIAA has claimed a total of Rs 185.85 million in damages in the case.
