Parsa District Court asks Rabi Lamichhane for Rs 10 million bail

The Parsa District Court has demanded a security deposit of Rs 1 crore from RSWAP President Rabi Lamichhane in the case of misappropriation of funds of the Sano Paila Savings and Credit Cooperative Society in Birgunj.

The bench of Judge Rudra Subedi sought the bail on Tuesday after a closed hearing.

Lamichhane appeared in the Parsa District Court directly from Janakpur on Tuesday. Tehsildar Devraj Bhattarai informed that the court had ordered his detention after his statement and sought bail. He said that if he paid the bail, he would be released or else he would have to remain in custody for trial.

The District Attorney's Office, Parsa, had registered a chargesheet in the cooperative fraud and organized crime case in the district court on Jestha 30, along with a demand for a sum of Rs 115.694 crore. Additional punishment has also been sought against him under Section 9 (a) and (c) of the Organized Crime Prevention Act, 2070.

Parsa police had submitted a report to the Parsa Attorney's Office after completing the investigation into the misappropriation of funds from the Sano Paila Savings and Loan Cooperative Society in Birgunj. Based on that, the government prosecutor's office, after studying, filed a charge sheet against 29 people, including Lamichhane, in the district court.

It was found that Rs 106.94 crore was transferred from Sano Payla to Gorkha Media Pvt. Ltd. and Rs 95.98 crore to Nature Herbs Industries Pvt. Ltd.
