”It's not that we don't give them tickets, it's that they won't contest the election. It's not that we don't give them tickets, it's that we should take a break from one level and rank. This is not something that is said to be disrespectful.”

Nepali Congress President Gagan Thapa has said that a section of the party should not contest the election now. When asked whether he would give tickets to outgoing party president Sher Bahadur Deuba and leader Arju Deuba Rana in the election, he said that the decision will be taken by the parliamentary board that selects candidates according to the party's statute.
He said that he will chair the board, 'Even if we don't give them tickets, it means they won't contest. Rather than giving them to you, a level and a row should take a break now. This is not something that is said to be disrespectful.' Thapa said this while talking directly to Umesh Chauhan, Editor-in-Chief of Kantipur Daily, on Kantipur's podcast series 'Beyond the Headlines'.
Thapa also said that the practice of always standing on the same election symbol will lead to disappointment among the citizens. He said that the same should be thought of in the case of the Deuba couple. When asked what the party would do if Sher Bahadur Deuba said that he would contest the election once again, he said, 'You cannot tell anyone that you can't contest the election. It is also a matter of the right of every member of the party to have aspirations. One should not be selective in the case of any person. One should not be selective in the case of Deuba either. One should think differently.'
When asked about the leaders who supported Sher Bahadur and Arju till the end, he said that supporting someone is not a crime. He said, 'You should not think like that. Supporting someone is not a crime, right? Some leaders should stand up. Some should not be told not to stand up. You have gone mad against us. Now we should not think that we will fix the situation.'
He said that the time for candidate selection is very stressful and that there is still work to be done to convince and unite the angry friends.
