CPN-UML Chairman and former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said that the protests of 23 and 24 Bhadra were a well-planned conspiracy. He said this in an interview with RT India. This is an international news network run by the Russian government.
‘This was not a normal and natural incident. It was unnatural and could not have happened suddenly. It was planned,’ he said in an interview with RT India on Monday. He said that anarchic elements infiltrated the movement by promoting the Jenny generation. He claims that anti-social elements attacked the Parliament building. He said that Sri Lanka and Bangladesh had warned before that protests could happen in Nepal like in their countries. ‘Bangladesh and Sri Lanka had been telling us. Leaders had been saying that this could happen. And it happened. This is an attack on our democracy to return us to poverty,’ Oli said. He said that preparations for this incident have been underway for a few years. And, he admitted that his government’s failure to take the situation seriously was a weakness. He also said that the investigation into this incident will take time. He said that during his tenure, relations with both neighbors were good and that Nepal's land was committed not to be used against anyone. 'During our tenure, we had good relations with China. This is a fact. Relations with India were good. I did not work against any neighbor. Our policy is not to allow our land to be used against anyone,' he said. He said that a suitable environment for elections has not been created in Nepal. When asked if he would become the Prime Minister again, he said, 'We are a very popular party in Nepal and I am its leader. We have been working for the people for the last 60 years. The people did it for me. They gave me the popular vote in my constituency. But the main thing is not whether I will come or not. The sovereignty of my country should be maintained.' He also welcomed Bolan Shah's decision to join the National Independent Party and enter active politics. 'He is young. He is a rapper. He is interested in politics. He became the mayor of Kathmandu, that is all good. He has come to the elections by opening a political party. I appreciate and respect his work. After joining a political party, one should be loyal to the people. This is a good thing,' he said, 'but becoming the Prime Minister is a hypothetical thing. I do not want to comment on that.'
