Proportional representation candidates for the upcoming House of Representatives elections to be held on February 21 will be able to withdraw their candidacies by 4 pm today.
According to the notice issued by the Election Commission, the candidates concerned can withdraw their candidacies in accordance with the program approved by the Commission regarding the closed list submitted by political parties in the House of Representatives elections on December 13 and 14.
The Commission has informed all the concerned candidates in this regard, Election Commission Secretary Krishna Bahadur Raut informed. Candidates can withdraw their candidacies from the office of the Commission's Proportional Election Officer today from 10 am to 4 pm.
If the candidates whose names are included in the closed list wish to withdraw their names, they can submit an application in the format as per Schedule 18 of the Proportional Election Directive of the House of Representatives, 2082. The Commission has stated that if the concerned candidate is unable to attend for any reason, an application can also be submitted to withdraw their names through proxy.
There is a provision for 165 people to be elected through the direct election system and 110 people through the proportional election system in the 275-member House of Representatives.
