Nepali Congress leader Sunil Bahadur Thapa has been elected from Koshi Province in the National Assembly elections. The Election Commission formally announced his election on Sunday.
He was previously a political advisor to President Ram Chandra Poudel. Thapa, who hails from Muga, Dhankuta, was elected unopposed from Koshi Province in the 'Other Group', according to the Returning Officer's Office.
Thapa's single candidacy was filed during the nomination registration for the National Assembly election in Biratnagar on Poush 23. Although he was elected on the same day, the commission made the formal announcement only on Sunday.
