Temperatures have been falling in Nepal recently, with the minimum temperature in Kathmandu dropping further to 2.4 degrees on Friday.

According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, this record is the lowest in Kathmandu this year. Meteorologist Binu Maharjan said that the temperature across the country has been gradually decreasing since the onset of Poush and this trend is continuing. He said that the temperature is constantly decreasing at this time, so one should avoid the cold.

The minimum temperature in Kathmandu was recorded at 4.9 degrees on Poush 28. The minimum temperature in Kathmandu dropped to 4.8 degrees on Poush 15. The temperature dropped to 4.6 on Poush 17 and 40, but it dropped to 4.5 degrees on Poush 19. Similarly, the temperature, which dropped to 3 degrees on Poush 23 and 24, has dropped to 2.4 today. 

Similarly, the temperature is also decreasing in various districts. Today, the lowest minimum temperature in Jumla is minus 7.7 degrees. On Thursday, the temperature in Jumla had dropped to minus 8.1.

While Jomsom is minus five degrees today, Jiri in Dolakha is minus 2.1. Today, the minimum temperature in Dadeldhura is 1.5, in Dipayal 1.4, in Birendranagar 2.5, in Taplejung 3.9 and in Lumle 3.6 degrees.

The Meteorological Department has informed that there is a partial effect of westerly winds across the country and a low-pressure system developed in the South-West Bay of Bengal is also having a partial effect. 

In the bulletin issued this evening, it is stated that the weather will be partly cloudy in Koshi Province, Madhes, Bagmati and Gandaki Provinces while the rest of the hilly and mountainous areas will be clear. The department has also stated that there will be mist/fog in the Terai areas of Koshi, Madhes and Lumbini Provinces and mist will occur in some places in the rest of the Terai areas. 

As the effect of fog/mist in the Terai region of the country is expected to partially affect daily life, tourism, health, as well as air and road transport in the morning, it is requested to exercise caution and obtain information from the updated weather information issued daily by the Department's Weather Forecasting Division.
