The Department of Commerce, Supplies and Consumer Protection is going to tighten the sale and distribution of plastic and plastic-based products.

The department has issued a one-time order to 19 different plastic industries and shops and has directed them not to sell and distribute plastic bags less than 40 microns in the future. The department has also issued other corrective instructions. 

It has been mentioned that necessary instructions and action have been taken as per the Consumer Protection Act, 075 and Consumer Protection Regulations, 2076.

The department has issued necessary instructions to Niruz Plastic Industry, MN Plastic Industry, National Plastic Industries, Kunwar Furniture Industry, Diksha Store. Similarly, it has issued necessary instructions to plastic industries, shops and importers including Pashupatinath Enterprises, Universal Traders and others not to sell and distribute plastic bags less than 40 microns. The department has clarified that such instructions have been given with the aim of protecting the environment.
