The government has approved the 'Election Police Recruitment, Selection, Appointment and Mobilization Criteria-2082'. The criteria have been approved to recruit 149,090 election police officers for the security of the House of Representatives elections scheduled for 21 Falgun.

The Ministry of Home Affairs has approved the criteria for recruitment, selection, appointment and deployment of election police officers, including 10 days of training and 30 days of deployment at the workplace. According to the Ministry of Home Affairs, the criteria have been approved for 133,980 to be deployed under the Nepal Police and 15,110 to be deployed under the Armed Police Force (APF). 

The temporary recruits will be provided with salary, uniform and other service facilities as per the basic salary scale of the police and armed police personnel. Ration facilities will be provided as per the rate of the concerned district.

The expenses for ration, monthly salary and uniform will be provided to the bank account of the concerned person. After the temporary selection, Rs 846 per person will be given as preparation expenses for coming and going, and Rs 1,200 for 4 days of lunch will be given in a lump sum. 

It is mentioned that the clothing allowance will vary according to the Himalayas, Hills and Terai/Madhesh. For Nepal Police, it will be blue dangri cloth with a cap. In the case of election police officers deployed under the armed forces, they should have clothes and caps that match the uniform of the armed forces. The manpower deployed under regular security during the election will be given Rs 1,200 as lunch expenses, similar to those given to the Election Police. 

The criteria state that there will be an Election Police Selection and Appointment Committee under the coordination of the Chief District Officer of the concerned district. For selection, applications can be submitted to the District Police Office and, in the case of the Armed Forces, to the Armed Forces' battalion/combat unit in the district.

The criteria state that the selection method for both police forces will be determined based on their respective syllabus. People between the ages of 18 and 54 can apply for recruitment. Anand Kafle, spokesperson for the Ministry of Home Affairs, informed that the criteria related to Election Police recruitment have been approved and sent to both police headquarters.
