The Ministry of Home Affairs has issued a 10-point directive circular to all 77 district administration offices to submit progress reports, including initiatives taken to maintain religious tolerance at the district level, regarding some incidents that have disrupted religious and social harmony in some districts of the Terai and Madhesh.

On Tuesday, In a directive issued by Rama Acharya Subedi, Deputy Secretary and Information Officer of the Ministry of Home Affairs, all Chief District Officers have been instructed to immediately bring anyone involved in illegal activities prohibited by law to the legal system and initiate action. Similarly, in point number 2, instructions have been given to hold a coordination meeting with stakeholders to promote religious, social, and cultural harmony and tolerance. For this, instructions have been given to the heads of political parties in the district, social, cultural, and religious leaders to make a public appeal for harmony.  

The circular of the Ministry of Home Affairs also states that such incidents should not be allowed to increase by organizing a harmony rally with the participation of all parties and making arrangements for strict checks on movement in the border areas. 

It has been directed to run programs in local languages ​​through various media outlets and to emphasize the operation of coordinating and promotional programs at the provincial and local levels.

Similarly, in point number 7, it has been directed to form and activate a seven-member District Peace and Social Harmony Committee under the coordination of the Chief District Officer. The committee has been formed with the members of the District Security Committee, the chairperson or representative of the political party in the district, the district chairperson of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry, the district chairperson of the Federation of Journalists, the district chairperson of the Nepal Bar Association, a representative designated by the head of the District Coordination Committee, and leaders of the social, cultural and religious sectors.

Similarly, it has been directed to prepare a list of possible programs or festivals that may cause controversy based on the records of events in previous years and prepare an annual calendar.
