The Nepali Embassy in London has urged people to be vigilant, saying that there has been an increase in fraud cases under the pretext of obtaining a 'work permit' in the UK.
The embassy has issued a statement urging Nepalis to avoid fraud as complaints of fraud have increased under the pretext of finding a sponsor for work. The embassy has stated that a large number of those who have complained of fraud are Nepalese who want to come to the UK from Nepal.
The embassy has stated that complaints of fraud are increasing, including from Nepalese who are in the UK but looking for work. 'It is understood that some of the fraudsters are people of Nepali origin, while there have also been complaints of people who have been cheated by contacting people in third countries through Nepali acquaintances,' the statement states.
Since such crimes are punishable in both Nepal and the UK, the embassy also suggests filing a complaint with the investigating agencies of Nepal, the local police in the UK, and the National Anti-Fraud Network (Action Fraud) in case of a problem.
Acting Nepali Ambassador to the UK Bipin Duwadi said that the embassy is ready to facilitate justice for victims who come forward with evidence. The embassy has urged Nepalis in trouble to contact the embassy's email or +44-7404939274.
