Milan Limbu has announced that he will withdraw his name from the closed list of candidates for the proportional representation seat for the House of Representatives submitted to the Election Commission by the National Independent Party.
Limbu was recommended as the sixth candidate in the indigenous men's cluster of the Rashtriya Swatantra Party (RSWP). He announced his withdrawal from the list of proportional candidates on Monday through social media.
'Although I, our party, am included in the 6th position in the indigenous men's cluster under the closed list of 110 people for the proportional representation of the House of Representatives submitted to the Election Commission by the National Independent Party (RSWP), I have decided to withdraw my name from the list,' Limbu said. 'I had given my candidacy for the proportional representation based on the party's commitment to adopt the proportional/inclusive system guaranteed in the Constitution of Nepal, and in consultation with the party and leadership. However, in this phase of unity and polarization, the leadership is obliged to properly manage even the friends who have come from unity. Understanding the leadership's obligation, and also understanding the impact of the situation created during the preparation of the closed list on the feelings of the general members of the party and leaders and workers, I have decided to withdraw my name from the closed list.'
Limbu has mentioned that he took the decision respecting the long-term interests of the party, internal unity and collective spirit.
Limbu was the RSVP candidate in the 2081 House of Representatives by-election in Ilam Constituency No. 2 of the House of Representatives. In the by-election in which UML's Suhang Nembang was elected, Limbu received 5,050 votes.
