A delegation of the Tharu Welfare Society met with Prime Minister Sushila Karki today. During the meeting held at the Prime Minister's residence in Baluwatar, the delegation also invited Prime Minister Karki to attend the Tharu National Maghi Festival.
Premilal Chaudhary, the coordinator of the main organizing committee and the chairman of the Tharu Welfare Society, handed over the invitation letter to Prime Minister Karki for the program to be organized in Tundikhel on Magh 1. On that occasion, Chairman Chaudhary urged Prime Minister Karki to address the demands and issues of the Tharus. He complained that even after 10 years of the constitution, the issue of reservation for Tharus in the civil service has not been ensured. Prime Minister Karki expressed the view that no one should stop the practice of rights that have been organized in the constitution and law. She said, "Who and why stopped the rights granted by the constitution? I am also unable to understand this. I am concerned about this. No one should stop the practice of rights that have been organized in the constitution and law."
Since this country is a common garden for all, she said that all communities should have proper representation in the state and only development that is sustainable through representation of all will be sustainable. The Tharu community celebrates the Maghi festival on the day of Maghe Sankranti every year.
