The Congress Central Working Committee has decided to hold the general convention in the last week of next Baisakh.
In the committee meeting held at the party office, Sanepa, on Friday, the proposal along with the agenda presented by Acting President Purna Bahadur Khadka to hold the general convention after the elections was passed by a majority. According to the agenda, the 15th general convention of the Congress will be held in Kathmandu from Baisakh 28-31, 2083.
Spokesperson Prakash Sharan Mahat said that the agenda was passed by a majority with amendments as the 15th general convention proposed in this month could not be held due to various problems. According to him, the meeting has also decided to extend the term of the Central Working Committee until mid-Jeshtha. Earlier, the meeting on Mangsir 15 had extended the term of the Central Working Committee until mid-Magh. Similarly, he clarified that the terms of the lower committees will also be extended as per the provisions of the statute.
General Secretaries Gagan Kumar Thapa and Bishwaprakash Sharma have expressed their disagreement with the decision of the meeting and urged the representatives of the 14th general convention to be prepared, saying that a special general convention will be called.
