Women from Singa, Beni Municipality-4, Myagdi have been taught 'Traditional Panchaibaja' to preserve the traditional instrument and add it to their income.

The Shivalaya Community Learning Center has started training representatives of women and mothers' groups in playing the panchaibaja. Representatives of various mothers' groups and women's groups within the ward have participated in the panchaibaja training, which began on Wednesday.

Since there is no panchaibaja playing group within the ward, the center's chair Bharat Prasad Sharma said that the training was started to eliminate the compulsion to bring in a team from outside to play the panchaibaja at auspicious events such as weddings, chebars, and fasts, and to increase women's income. 'There is a tradition of playing the panchaibaja at every auspicious event, but there is a problem in our ward as there is no panchaibaja playing group, so we have conducted the training,' said center chair Sharma.

Panchaibaja trainers Prakash Pariyar and Sat Prasad Chhinal will provide practical training in the training, which will be conducted for 45 days. In the current fiscal year, Beni Municipality, on the recommendation of the ward office, has provided a grant of Rs 150,000 for the conservation and skill development of Naumati Baja, and the Gandaki Province Government has provided a grant of Rs 120,000 for skill development training.

Panchaibaja includes Sahanai, Dholaki, Tamko, Damaha, Jhyali, and Karnal.
