The National Human Rights Commission has urged the government to protect the lives of Dr. Nicholas Bhusal and Harish Bista, who are on hunger strike, as their health is deteriorating.

In a press release issued on Thursday, Assistant Spokesperson Shyambabu Kafle urged the government of Nepal to protect the lives of Dr. Bhusal and Bista, who have been on a hunger strike to death at their ancestral home in Kathmandu for the past 10 days, demanding an investigation and action against them. The statement said, "The Commission draws the attention of the Government of Nepal to take the initiative to provide them with effective health treatment and reach a conclusion on the demands of the hunger strikers through dialogue and to protect their lives." The Commission is continuously monitoring this matter and during the latest monitoring conducted by the Commission, it was found that the health condition of Dr. Bhusal and Bista is serious, Dr. Bhusal's blood pressure is very low, and his blood sugar level has also decreased.
