Kathmandu's temperature has been recorded as the lowest this year today. According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, the minimum temperature in Kathmandu today was recorded at 4.8 degrees.

This temperature is the lowest of the year. Earlier, the minimum temperature in Kathmandu was measured at 4.9 degrees on Poush 20. The next lowest temperature was measured today.

Information Officer of the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology Dinkar Kayastha said that mist, fog and cold wave persisted in the Terai region and snowfall was observed in some places in the Himalayan region. The cold is expected to increase further. The temperature in Jumla today is minus 4.5.

In a bulletin released by the department tonight, it is stated that mist/fog will prevail in most places in the Terai region on Poush 20 and that it will be partly cloudy in the remaining hilly and mountainous regions including Karnali Province and Sudurpaschim Province.

The department also stated that there is a possibility of light rain/snowfall in one or two places in the high hilly and mountainous regions of Koshi Province, Gandaki Province and Karnali Province. As the situation will remain the same on Poush 17, it has been requested to take necessary precautions.

It is reported that the effect of fog/mist in the Terai region of the country will have a partial impact on daily life, health, road and air transport.
