Writ petition against government-Genji agreement 'unwatchable'

A writ petition filed today, claiming that the 10-point agreement between the government and Genji is unconstitutional, has been placed on the 'unviewable' list.

Although the case is scheduled to be presented today in a joint bench of Supreme Court Justices Abdul Aziz Musalman and Sunil Kumar Pokharel, it has been placed on the list of cases that cannot be seen while hearing other cases.

Earlier, on Poush 4, a single bench of Justice Tek Prasad Dhungana had issued a show cause order to Prime Minister Sushila Karki regarding the agreement and asked her to submit a written response through the Attorney General's Office within 15 days.

Separate writ petitions filed by Advocate Dr. Premraj Silwal and advocates Sudip Bhandari, Rohit Jha, Saroj Katel and law students Ayush Badal, Prabin Poudel and Smriti Adhikari, among others, stated that the agreement was against the constitution.

Raising constitutional questions over the agreement signed between Prime Minister Sushila Karki and the Genji representative on Mangsir 24, the writ petition states that the interim elected government does not have the authority to make political and structural agreements that will have long-term and far-reaching effects.
