Vice President Ram Sahay Prasad Yadav has said that senior citizens should be accepted as a source of 'enlightenment' and not a 'burden'. Vice President Yadav has mentioned that it is necessary to focus on senior citizen-friendly infrastructure, social security, community support and mental health to keep the dignity of senior citizens intact.

'Respecting their presence as a pillar in the family is the foundation of our culture,' the Vice President said. Giving a message of greetings on the occasion of National Senior Citizens Day, 2082, the Vice President clarified that the younger generation should not only consider senior citizens as elders but also as a source of experience, knowledge and guidance.

The Vice President said that respectfully accepting the views of senior citizens, ensuring their participation in social activities, and supporting them in access to everything from digital literacy to health services is the need of the day. He expressed his belief that this will further strengthen the relationship between generations.

'Our Eastern philosophy considers senior citizens as the 'lamp of life'. Neglecting them in the name of modernity is the downfall of family and social values. Restoring their dignity by coordinating culture and modernity should become our common responsibility,' Vice President Yadav said in the message.
