Police have arrested two Indians and a Thai woman from Sinamangal, Kathmandu, with nearly 4.5 kg of cocaine.

A team of the Narcotics Control Bureau has arrested 3 kg 750 grams of banned drugs, including cocaine, from an Indian citizen who came from Laos via Singapore and 550 grams from a Thai woman who came to Nepal from Laos via Thailand.

The arrested are Indian citizens Murchland Hossain, 21, Xavier Mathew Thaliacheri, 55, and a Thai woman, Rusani Kama, 40. According to the Bureau's SSP Krishna Prasad Koirala, the two Indians and the Thai woman were arrested on Saturday and Monday, respectively. They were staying at a hotel in Sinamangala. Hussain, on the other hand, came to Nepal from India to buy cocaine.

Based on confidential information, a team of the Bureau including Inspector Sabin Karki and Deputy Inspector of Police Vichitra Magar arrested them outside the hotel during the operation. The cocaine was seized during a search of the hotel . The police have stated that the market value of the seized cocaine is more than 120 million rupees. The Indian national smuggled the cocaine in a coffee packet and the Thai woman swallowed it in a capsule. The capsule in her stomach was removed through her stool through medical procedures. All three are under the control of the bureau.

The police's initial investigation has revealed that a gang abroad may have used them as porters by luring them with a certain amount of money. Earlier, it has been revealed that the gang has repeatedly used the same route to transit Nepal and take it to India.
