Addressing the inauguration program of the newly constructed Sushil Koirala Memorial Building of Nepali Congress Banke in Nepalgunj on Tuesday, central member Deepak Giri announced his candidacy for the post of Vice President.
Nepali Congress central member Deepak Giri has announced his candidacy for the post of Vice President in the upcoming general convention. Addressing the inauguration program of the newly constructed Sushil Koirala Memorial Building of the Nepali Congress Banke in Nepalgunj on Tuesday, Giri announced his candidacy for the post of Vice President.
He announced his candidacy at the building inauguration program held on the occasion of the 102nd birth anniversary of former party president and former Prime Minister late Krishna Prasad Bhattarai. Stating that he has had a long-standing emotional relationship with Banke, he announced that he would contest for the post of vice-president from Nepalgunj. Giri also said that the issue of which group he would contest from would be decided later.
Giri, who became a central member of the Nepali Sangh in 2036 BS, has been elected as a central member of the party several times. In the 14th general convention, Giri was elected as a central member of the open party from the Dr. Shekhar Koirala group. He was elected as an MP from Dang Constituency No. 3 in the 2079 BS election. Giri also became the Minister of Irrigation in 2073 BS.
