Minister for Education, Science and Technology Mahabir Pun has said that corruption can be eradicated if yoga and meditation can be spread in the society. Addressing a program organized on the occasion of World Meditation Day, Minister Pun said that the need of the hour is to purify the mind.
Minister Pun says that if the mind is not pure, greed, lust, and pride will arise and corruption will flourish. He said that there is no medicine to remove corruption, but since yoga purifies the mind, corruption can be removed.
Minister Pun said that everyone should make efforts to bring yoga and meditation to the villages. He said that he has already instructed to bring yoga and meditation to schools through extracurricular activities. He said that yoga and meditation are not taught, but made, and he also raised the issue of promoting Fridays in schools as extracurricular activities instead of teaching them.
Minister Pun's words
There is a great need to purify the mind. If the mind is not pure, many types of greed, lust, and pride increase in the mind. When such tendencies increase, a favorable environment is created for corruption to flourish. The minds of all the corrupt people we have mentioned are corrupt, not pure. Pride, greed, and lust dominate them.
It has become clear that such greed, lust, and pride cannot be removed by giving medicine. There is no medicine for it, and it is not likely to be made in the future either. But as a medicine, yoga and meditation should be spread in the society. If the practice of yoga and meditation can be spread in every village, I see a great possibility of reducing corruption.
I have seen yoga and meditation as an effective means of purifying the minds of the corrupt, the arrogant, and the greedy-sinners. Therefore, everyone should make an effort to take yoga and meditation to every village. I am working with the aim of including yoga and meditation in schools through extracurricular activities. I have also given instructions to include yoga under extracurricular activities.
Yoga is not a subject to be taught, it is a subject to be taught. Therefore, I have proposed that Fridays in schools should be used as a day to carry out extracurricular activities, not for regular studies.
