Prime Minister Sushila Karki has said that one should not forget one's traditions and culture. In a meeting with a delegation of the Tamu Hyul Chhonj Dhi Gurung National Council on Sunday, Prime Minister Karki said that although some harmful practices within the culture need to be eliminated, one should not abandon one's original traditions and costumes.

The council representatives were present in traditional costumes according to Gurung culture. Praising the costumes, she said that it would be appropriate for employees to wear their traditional costumes even in government offices, even if only for one day a week.

‘Some societies are currently searching for their identity. In the name of modernity, they are forgetting their originality. They do not know what their identity is. But we Nepalis have a lot of identity. We have a diverse original culture and tradition. This should be preserved. Instead, should we also think about making arrangements for wearing such costumes one or two days a week in government offices?’, she said.

The council has also invited Prime Minister Karki to be the chief guest at the Tamu Lhosar-related program to be held on Poush 15.
