Nepal has made a special presentation at the United Nations for the first time on the occasion of the second World Meditation Day. Representing Nepal, the Institute of Life Sciences organized two separate meditation-related programs at the United Nations on Friday on the occasion of the Day of Meditation.

On behalf of Nepal, the founders of the Life Sciences Foundation, Ramesh Nepal and LP Bhanu Sharma, conducted a special discourse, yoga practice and meditation on the topic of 'Meditation for Global Peace and Harmony' at a special program organized at the United Nations headquarters in New York, USA.

A press release issued by the foundation stated that the program has helped spread spiritual awareness including yoga, meditation, samadhi, which originated in Nepal, all over the world. At the 'Meditation for Global Peace and Harmony' program, Guru Bhanu made it clear that every human being needs to have a stable mind to face the challenges of the modern world and called for meditation for that.

Stating that the United Nations started celebrating December 21 as World Meditation Day, he expressed happiness that along with traditional diplomacy and policy-making, internal awakening, meditation and mental health have now been accepted as the foundations of world peace.

'Only the practice of meditation plays a decisive role in building global peace.' In peace and conflict resolution, internal transformation is inevitable.' Nepal, the land of Buddha, should be presented as a bridge between Eastern knowledge and modern science.  Experimental transformation of meditation, Nepal's call for awakening to the world, and mental health should be developed as a global infrastructure,' he said.

At the program, the Permanent Representatives of Nepal, India, Sri Lanka, Andorra, and Mexico to the United Nations discussed the importance of Meditation Day. Along with LP Bhanu Sharma, the program also featured presentations by gurus from various countries, including Ravi Shankar from India.

Similarly, at the 'Awakened Mind: The Path to Peace, Health, and Harmony' program organized by Nepal for various communities at the United Nations headquarters, Guru Ramesh Nepal gave a special discourse on the importance of meditation and made the participants practice meditation and yoga.

On the occasion, he said that meditation awakens and activates the power in the body. He said, 'Meditation gives peace and positivity to the mind. The purpose of meditation is to strengthen the life force. He stressed that meditation should be made universal, stating that if the practice of meditation can be connected to people's daily lives, unrest, strife and stress will end in the world. In the program, Guru Bhanu discussed the various dimensions of meditation and said that the self-awakening campaign to identify and activate the energy centers of the body should be used worldwide to awaken the potential within the individual. He informed that Life Sciences has started a self-awakening campaign on behalf of Nepal for this. The program was attended by representatives of various countries and communities, including United Nations Deputy Secretary-General Atul Khare, Nepali Permanent Representative to the United Nations Lok Bahadur Thapa, and Life Sciences Foundation President Devi Guruma. World Meditation Day, declared by the United Nations in 2024, is celebrated on December 21 every year. A statement issued by Life Sciences Secretary Kiran Rupakheti stated that this program will promote spiritual awareness of yoga, meditation, samadhi and other things, which originated in Nepal, worldwide. It is also stated that the world can benefit from spirituality, Ayurveda and natural medicine, which have been used and practiced since ancient times.
