A corruption case has been filed in the Special Court against Vinesh Moonkarmi, the manager of the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal and head of the Pokhara Regional International Airport Project.

The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) filed a corruption case against Moonkarmi on Tuesday on charges of amassing illegal wealth.

It has demanded a fine of around Rs 25 million against him, along with a corresponding fine, imprisonment and confiscation of the amount increased from undisclosed assets.

The CIAA has already filed a case against 56 people, including 5 former ministers and 9 former secretaries, in the 'corruption' up to the contract agreement for the construction of Pokhara Airport.  The parliamentary investigation committee has concluded that at least 10 billion rupees were involved in corruption in the construction of the airport. The CIAA has started an investigation into this embezzlement in the construction.
