Joint security patrol in Nepal-China border area

What you should know

A joint security patrol has been conducted at the northern Korala border crossing. On Sunday, a joint team of the Annapurna Conservation Project (ACAP) Lomanthang, the Armed Police Force and the Nepal Police conducted a joint patrol of the border area.

Joint patrols are conducted in the Nepal-China border area during the winter to control possible wildlife poaching and smuggling, as well as possible crimes, illegal activities and unwanted activities. The Armed Police Force and Nepal Police, along with staff representatives from the ACAP Lomanthang Office, conducted a joint security patrol, informed ACAP Lomanthang Office Chief Umesh Poudel.

ACAP Lomanthang, along with Chief Poudel, and about a dozen teams from the Armed Police Border Outpost (BOP) in Lomanthang-2 Nechung and Nepal Police, were deployed on patrol in the freezing cold without letting the temperature drop below zero.

The joint security patrol team reached the border area from border pillar number 24 in the northern Nepal-China Korlanaka to border pillars 25, 26, 27 and 28 on the Manang side. Although there was heavy snowfall in Upper Mustang on Kartik 10, there has been no snowfall since then. However, the snow that fell on the Nepal-China border on Kartik 10 remains in place. ACAP Lomanthang has started joint security patrols there with the help of security personnel working in the border area.

With the onset of winter, the cold has increased significantly in Upper Mustang. The temperature in the morning and evening in Upper Mustang has dropped to minus 20 degrees. Due to the cold, most of the citizens of Upper Mustang have gone down to the valley to escape the cold. Security personnel working in the border area are braving the cold and are deployed for border security.
