A photo has gone viral on social media as the 11th UML general convention is underway in Sallaghari, Bhaktapur. The photo, showing people all over the field, was circulated on social media claiming it to be the venue of the UML general convention.
The photo looks like a dense crowd of people. But in reality, the photo is not from the UML general convention. This photo has been circulating on social media since 2 pm. It appears to have been posted at 2:07 pm by a Facebook profile named 'Bachan Raj Joshi'.
Joshi, who posted the photo, is the chairman/director of an online magazine called 'KamanaToday'. As of the time of writing, the post has received more than a thousand reactions, more than 200 comments, and has been shared 10 times.
Many users have commented on the post saying the photo is wrong. While many users are posting real photos on social media, it seems that high-level leaders of the UML have posted this photo.
UML Politburo member Mahesh Basnet has also posted it on his social media account. Basnet has posted 9 photos at 3:15 pm. One of which is this photo.
The photo he posted has received more than 2,100 'reactions', more than 500 comments, and 21 times of sharing.
Saroj Kumar Regmi, the personal secretary of UML General Secretary Shankar Pokharel, who is also a central member of the UML Intellectual Council, has also posted the photo on his Facebook account. He posted the photo at 3:43 pm on Saturday. While posting the photo, he wrote, 'NCP-UML's 11th National General Convention inauguration ceremony...'
As of the time of writing, the post has received more than 200 'reacts', 39 comments and more than 21 shares. UML Bagmati Province President Kailash Dhungel is also among the sharers.
Similarly, the current president of Nepal Press Chautari, Ganesh Pandey, had also posted the photo. Pandey posted the photo and wrote - 'Viewing the 11th National General Convention of NCP-UML from a drone'. However, he has now deleted it.
