Forty-seven Nepali workers rescued from Myanmar's Myawaddy region arrived in Kathmandu on Wednesday evening. They were rescued by the Myanmar military after being held hostage and forced to work in illegal online scamming centers (telecom fraud and online gambling) in Shwe Kokko and KK Park in Myawaddy.
The Nepali Embassy in Bangkok, in coordination with the Thai and Myanmar governments, sent them to Nepal via Nepal Airlines flight no. RA 402. The embassy took charge of them from the Mae Sot Immigration Office in Tak province, Thailand on Tuesday and brought them to Bangkok. The embassy team reached the Thailand-Myanmar border area to pick up the Nepalis. Among the rescued people, there are 47 people from 26 districts, of whom 45 are men and 2 are women.
The embassy has once again requested everyone not to come to Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and other countries for foreign employment under the pretext of visiting.
