The National Examination Board has issued a circular to schools across the country to ensure that only students who have completed the age of 14 can participate in the SEE examination. Board Member Secretary Jung Bahadur Aryal has stated in the circular that since there is a provision that the date of birth can be amended, if the age is not reached, the examination application form can be filled by amending it.

The board is working on the application form for students participating in the 2082 SEE and the registration form for class 9 to participate in the 2083 exam.

There have been complaints that some students are being deprived of the exam because they have not completed 14 years of age. The education regulations stipulate that those who have completed 5 years of age should be admitted to class 1 and must have completed 14 years of age by mid-Chait of the year in which they are to participate in the SEE of the same year. Parents have complained to the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Home Affairs and local levels that some students will not reach the age of 14 by mid-Chait.

The board has claimed that since the government, at the request of the National Identity Card and Registration Department, made arrangements to correct the name, surname, age or other details on 14th Shrawan 2082, the age of the student can also be corrected.

‘We request you to provide the certified record of the admission of students to class 1 to the local registrar’s office and facilitate the work related to the amendment of the details mentioned in the birth certificate,’ the board has said. ‘The details mentioned in the birth certificate of students whose names, surnames, and dates of birth have been corrected can be corrected in the EMES system from the school in the case of classes 1 to 7 and from the concerned local level in the case of class 8. It has been decided in a meeting with the Education and Human Resource Development Center.’

The circular issued by the board has been sent to all 753 local levels for information. Parents, however, have been complaining that the local level is not ready to make the amendment, stating that they have admitted children to class 1 as per the birth certificate. The board had also requested the local level on November 20 to facilitate the amendment. The Ministry of Education in 2078  It was decided to remove the 14-year provision, saying that the age limit would be imposed only in the final school-level examination, class 12.

The arrangement of the regulations and the decision of the ministry had caused confusion among parents, teachers, schools, and local levels. Even before that, the age limit for participating in SEE was 14 years. Problems have been seen since the board decided to implement the age limit of 14 years from 2080.

SEE cannot be given until the age of 14.
